Design with social impact
In April 2017 I participated in a workshop which was in collaboration with the University of Nairobi, the University of Skopje and the Swiss NGO Biovision. The workshop took place in Machakos about one hour from Nairobi in Kenya. We were working together with several farmers in the region to develop new solutions to help agriculture grow and become completely organic.
After four weeks of visiting several farms and developing different solutions we came up with an idea which we named "The agriculture club".
The first goal of the agriculture club is to help farmers who are retired to keep cultivating their land and have enough food for them and their family. The second goal is to make agriculture more popular for young children and motivate them to take over the farms from their parents. They should be able to explore the food they eat and where it comes from and the challenges along the supply chain from farm to table. Through their work on the farm they will learn first hand how proper organic farming is done and they can pass this knowledge on to their family.
